  PAY SLUMP CONTINUES
Sarah Welfare, Editor

The latest pay settlement statistics from IRS confirm the collapse in pay awards this year, with pay freezes continuing to increase in number. The median pay award is 1.3% for the three months to the end of June and the median for the three months to May has been revised down to just 1%. With headline inflation dipping to a new low of -1.6% in June and unemployment soaring, the prospects for pay awards will not be looking up any time soon.

Pay reports in this issue include First Hydro Company, two long-term pay deals at the Ministry of Defence and the printing industry.
