ECONOMIC OUTLOOK
Pay setters are facing a range of external influences on their pay budgets at the moment, most of which stem from the state of the economy. In our latest economic outlook, we look at the prospects for economic growth over the coming year. We also present detailed forecasts on growth, inflation and average earnings.

In our latest review of pay settlement trends, it is the public-sector deals that stand out. In the three months to the end of April 2012, the median whole-economy pay award has fallen to 2%, driven by pay freezes and low pay awards in the public sector. The private-sector median remains at a subdued 2.5%.

Finally, you still have a few days left to complete our survey of overtime practices - doing so will enable us to build an up-to-date picture of overtime rates and management for your benefit.
