Will pay awards increase in value in 2013?
Pay awards have remained stubbornly low over the past year and, despite falling inflation, still sit below the rate of increase in prices. But will 2013 mark a turnaround, with lower inflation and higher pay awards putting more money in employees' pockets?
We are now collecting data on employers' pay plans for the coming year in order for us to provide an authoritative analysis of pay intentions in 2013. In return for completing the survey, you will receive a comprehensive report including:
- a sector-by-sector analysis of pay trends;
-
a review of recent pay trends; and
- our survey findings on employer pay predictions for the year ahead, covering their pay award predictions and the issues that will dominate pay setting.
You will also be entered into a prize draw to win one of three £25 M&S vouchers. Complete the confidential survey. If you would like to discuss it, or have any questions, please email Sarah Welfare.

HEALTH BENEFITS
Health benefits remain a popular element of the employee benefits package, as organisations seek not only to aid recruitment and retention but also demonstrate that they wish to improve their employees' health and wellbeing. The most common benefits on offer are private medical insurance and an employee assistance programme, according to the 2012 XpertHR survey.
Our survey investigates four key health benefits, looking at the rationale for offering them, who they are offered to, the level of benefits provided, and the costs and changes planned.
We also present our latest analysis of pay settlement trends, which looks at the three-month period to the end of July 2012. Based almost entirely on a sample of private-sector pay awards, we find that the median pay award has increased to 2.5%.
But will this level of pay awards be sustained over the coming months? Please complete our pay prospects survey to tell us your pay plans for the next year.
