Pay awards present a mixed picture at the moment. For those who have already concluded their 2012 pay review, the median increase stands at 2.6%, up from the 2% seen through most of 2011 - and well above the levels for several years before that.

PAY FORECASTS
Pay awards present a mixed picture at the moment. For those who have already concluded their 2012 pay review, the median increase stands at 2.6%, up from the 2% seen through most of 2011 - and well above the levels for several years before that. Our latest analysis looks in detail at pay awards in the first few months of the year.

This pace of increase in the level of pay awards is unlikely to be continued. For the remainder of 2012, pay awards are not expected to move substantially from this figure. While public sector workers continue to be covered by either a pay freeze or 1% average award, in the private sector pay restraint remains. Respondents to our pay forecast survey are predicting pay awards of between 2% and 3% this year.
