PAY TRENDS 2012
Pay bargaining for 2012 is coming to an end, but whether or not it's been a good year for employees in terms of pay depends on whether they are employed in the public or private sector: public-sector workers saw a median pay freeze over 2012, while private-sector employees enjoyed rises at a median 2.5%. We have seen a slight dip in settlement levels at the end of the year, however, with XpertHR data recording a 2% median increase in the three months to the end of November.
Graduate salaries remain frozen for the fourth consecutive year, according to the 23rd XpertHR survey of graduate starting salaries. Graduates taking up positions in the legal industry can command the highest starting salaries, the survey finds.
The XpertHR pay and benefits team would like to wish readers a happy Christmas and best wishes for 2013.
