FINANCE-SECTOR PAY
Away from high-profile executive pay, pay awards in the finance sector have remained modest over the past year. In this issue, we present XpertHR's analysis of 87 pay settlements in finance companies, covering 380,000 employees. The median paybill increase for performance-related awards is 2.6% over the year ending 31 May 2012, while basic pay awards stand at a median 2%.

We also present the final article in the series from our benefits and allowances survey. Based on the benefits packages of 356 organisations, we examine current practice in pensions arrangements. The key finding from our survey is that final-salary pension schemes are no longer the most common pension offering in UK workplaces, having been replaced at the top of the league table by group personal pension plans. The report also presents detailed findings on long-service awards, childcare provision (the most common benefit available) and internal staff discounts.
